The newly-designed InkHead Promotional Products website officially went live on February 13, 2012. The new website delivers the same great shopping experience InkHead’s customers have grown to expect from the company, but it also makes improvements in site speed, navigation, and usability. The redesign incorporates several new pages and a completely rebuilt site menu.
“We have always prided ourselves on being on the cutting-edge,” says Jason Miller, InkHead’s COO and chief architect behind the new site design. “But we are always looking for ways to improve. After listening to customer feedback, we rebuilt our website from the ground up. We’ve streamlined the shopping experience in practically every way. Ordering through InkHead is quicker and easier than ever before.”
The site overhaul sought to make shopping experience more intuitive. Redesigned product pages make images, videos, and other content more readily accessible. The site engineers reviewed how customers shop the site and made popular pages (such as specials and brands) easier to find. Further, the main navigation menu has been simplified without impacting catalog taxonomy at all.
Customer feedback also showed that the ordering process for multiple items needed to be simplified. Now, customers can order multiple items at once without first having to complete the customization process. An additional order method, “Quick Quote,” enables prospects to get a pricing quote faster than ever. Finally, added intelligence to the shopping cart system should reduce cart abandonment tremendously.
To improve site speed, site engineers made changes in several key areas: they reduced the amount of code on every page, enhanced the site caching engine to decrease load times, and deferred page-loads so that pages are returned faster. Finally, the company’s robust content delivery network ensures a responsive site, regardless of one’s physical location.
The last element of the site redesign was optimizing InkHead.com for next-generation devices, such as tablets and smartphones. After recognizing that InkHead’s customer base no longer necessarily uses a computer to shop, the new website design has been optimized for iPad and other tablet devices. Further, in addition to a new desktop site, the site engineers have released an improved version of our mobile-friendly website.
