The Strengths of the Under Armour Brand

It all began in 1996 when Kevin Plank founded Under Armour in his Grandmother’s basement. Plank, who started out as a special teams captain for the University of Maryland, wanted to create a t-shirt that football players did not have to constantly change, like a cotton t-shirt, in the heat of summer during practice. After an incredible amount of research on the athletic benefits of synthetic fabrics, he designed the first Under Armour® HeatGear® T-shirt, which he named the #0037. Engineered with moisture-wicking performance fibers, the shirt helps keep athletes cool, dry, and light in the most brutally hot conditions. This was the start of the high quality brand designed out of necessity by a former college athlete who felt there had to be something better.

Once the popularity of the Under Armour® HeatGear® shirt took off the company introduced Under Armour® CoolGear® in 1998 which gave athletes the ability to battle the elements with a soft brushed inner layer that circulates heat and an element-battling outer layer that keeps [them] dry and protected. These are just two of the innovations they have created for the active person over the years. This is because they work with these organizations directly. Lastly, Under Armour® prohibits us from selling their brand to organizations involved in the alcohol, tobacco or pornography industries. Under Armour® is a brand whose goal is to make sure their clientele achieve greatness with their products and these guidelines help to insure this objective.
