On the 11th hour of the 11th Day of November, the 11th month in the year, during 1918, the Germans signed the armistice ending World War I, or as it was known then – The Great War or The War To End All Wars. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. Two short decades later the world was once more at war, and a number more were to follow. For this reason, Armistice Day officially became Veterans Day in 1954 – a holiday on which we honor not only those who died during WWI, but all veterans of war.

Show your national pride with promotional items.

As one of the most important national holidays, Veterans Day deserves as much patriotic pride as you can give it. You may want to consider investing in some promotional products to hand out around your office, church, work group or community center. Custom corporate gifts honoring Veterans Day in a patriotic manner could help those stuck at work show their celebratory pride. Small items, like American flag coffee mugs or personalized pens are sure to draw a lot of compliments and are easy to disperse among staff and coworkers.

Put an inspirational quote on your items to make them even more effective.

Looking for inspiring and powerful words to adorn your personalized items? The Huffington Post compiled an excellent collection of Veterans Day-appropriate quotes from far and wide. It includes centuries old maxims by Montaigne like, “Valor is stability, not of legs and arms, but of courage and the soul.” But the list also extends into our modern day, with a contribution by President John F. Kennedy – “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” Of course, Maya Angelous offers up both wit and an important reminder with “How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!”

Other ways to show your support on Veteran’s Day

Besides spreading the word and showing your civic pride with promotional items, there are other ways you can celebrate Veterans Day as well, notably by getting involved with military family support and other charitable causes. Writing letters to veterans, organizing events in your community, send care packages to members of deployed military forces, volunteer at your local VA center (you can find locations online) or just fly your own red white and blue proudly.
