Jute is a long, soft, shiny vegetable fibre that can be spun into coarse, strong threads. Thanks to its strength and durability, the fibre has become a viable eco-friendly option to poly and paper bags since polybags are made from petroleum and are non-biodegradable, and manufacturing paperbags requires large quantities of wood. Jute does not have these issues and is thus being used widely for these purposes.
