The best way to protect the life of your mug is by hand-washing it, regardless of whether it’s technically safe for the dishwasher. The extreme temperatures of dishwashers have been known to cause imprints to fade or chip away prematurely. When you wash the item by hand, you’re cutting down on the wear and tear brought on by dishwashers. If you do decide to wash the mug in the dishwasher, make sure to place it in the top rack only.
