In 2011, InkHead was proud to sponsor our very own Jim Franklyn as Man of the Year for the Georgia chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The Man and Woman of the Year is a fundraising campaign that challenges dynamic individuals to leverage their charisma and natural leadership abilities to raise money for LLS. This year, we’re equally excited to announce that Jim’s very own niece Kelly Napier is running for Woman of the Year!

5 Questions with Kelly Napier, Georgia LLS Woman of the Year Nominee

Kelly Napier is running in the Woman of the Year fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - Atlanta Chapter.

Kelly Napier is running in the Woman of the Year fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society – Atlanta Chapter.

We wanted to find out more about this dynamic woman and what LLS and the Woman of the Year fundraiser mean to her, so Kelly took some time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions about her campaign and what you can do to help.

  • Why are you running in the LLS Woman of the Year campaign?
I am honored to be running in the LLS Woman of the year campaign for 2013!  My family has a personal connection with cancer.  We have lost three relatives to the disease. My grandmother (Ann French), my aunt (Carole Bullen) as well as my uncle (Larry McGill) were all diagnosed with cancer and have since passed on. With the disease impacting my family so closely I have gained a passion to want to do something about it. My running in this campaign is not only a tribute to honor their lives, but to also give hope and try to assist others who are battling this disease today. We must find a cure!
  • How did you become involved with LLS?
I was nominated by my uncle Jim Franklyn (VP Of Sales & Marketing at Inkhead). I received a phone call from him one day after work and he told me he thought I would be perfect for the job. I was truly humbled and knew in my heart that I wanted to participate. Jim ran for Man Of The Year in 2011 and did an amazing job! I am truly inspired by what he did that year. I hope to follow in his footsteps and do the same!
  • Are there any events happening in Atlanta to support the event?
There are many exciting events happening in the Atlanta area to help support my campaign!

    1. April 23rd - On The Border Event. Bring in the campaign flyer to the Barrett Parkway restaurant and eat on this day. I will receive 10% of the proceeds towards the campaign!
    2. April 27th – Lee’s Crossing Garage Sale. Come to Lee’s Crossings Garage Sale at my house. All sales proceeds will go towards my campaign!
    3. April 27th – Belk’s Charity Event – Buy a $5.00 ticket to shop at any Belk’s store on that day and all proceeds will go towards my campaign!
    4. Memorial Weekend – Andretti’s game and carting event – More details to come later!
  • How is InkHead helping you in your campaign?
InkHead will have a link to my campaign for the 10 week duration of the campaign. In addition they will blog the campaign and use social media (Facebook & Twitter) to help steer people to my link to donate. Finally, InkHead will be sponsoring Gala Favors such as custom which will also be credited towards the money I raise. I am very grateful for all the support!
  • What are you hoping to accomplish by participating?
My individual goal in participating will be to raise $75,000! This is a very ambitious goal, but I know with the support of many this can be accomplished. Thank you in advance for your contribution!
