We’re Learning More to Better Serve You
The InkHead office has been quiet this week. Maybe it’s the back-to-school blues, but I’m thinking it’s because our charismatic VP of Sales and Marketing Jim Franklyn is out of the office attending the Promotional Products International Association (PPAI) North American Leadership Conference in beautiful Denver, CO.
What is the PPAI North American Leadership Conference?
The two-and-a-half day conference delves into the business issues, trends and best practices that have the biggest impact on the promotional product industry. The event, primarily focused on networking, allows our industry’s top business leaders to exchange ideas and plan for the future. In addition to keynote presentations from Alibaba.com general manager Annie Xu and best-selling author Don Deppers, the event also features several informative breakout sessions, product safety presentations, as well as a charity golf tournament.
Examining the Future of the Industry
Yesterday, Jim moderated one of the aforementioned breakout sessions, a panel discussion on what technological trends will have the greatest impact on the promotional product industry over the next five years. While we will have to wait for Jim to return to the office on Thursday to learn the exact outcome of the discussion, I found in my preliminary research for the presentation that the promotional product industry (and commerce in general) will move increasingly from offline phone calls, catalog orders, and in-person purchase agreements to online ordering systems as well as mobile commerce driven by QR codes and smartphones.
Take a look at the graph below from InternetRetailer, which shows the anticipated growth in mobile commerce sales for the next 5 years.
As the graph above shows, mobile commerce represents a growing segment of the e-commerce market. How do you plan to incorporate mobile advertising and mobile commerce into your business?
The Bottom Line
Our VP of Sales and Marketing Jim Franklyn is at PPAI’s North American Leadership Conference this week. In addition to meeting the leaders and other eminent thinkers in the industry, Jim’s primary mission for the conference is to learn what current business issues and technological trends have the most profound effect on our customers, so that we may better assist you in your Promotional Product purchases.
