October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 2010 marks the 25th anniversary of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, created in 1985 as a way to correct a glaring lack of public information about the disease, the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States. Close to 200,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year, and it is expected that over 40, 000 women will die from breast cancer in 2010. We at InkHead Promotional Products have been avid supporters of Breast Cancer Awareness Month for years and have partnered with several groups to help give their breast-cancer awareness campaigns optimal impact.

Throughout the month, you’ll be seeing pink everywhere as millions of people from all walks of life rally, run, and walk to raise funds for breast-cancer research and for assistance for those currently dealing with the disease. This month is also about promoting awareness of the warning signs of breast cancer and urging all women to take measures to detect the disease in its early stages, through self-examination and regular mammograms.
